Airbus H145 (BK117 D-2) · Single-Engine Failure (OEI)

☐OEI rating (30s/2min/continuous)APPLY AS REQUIRED, do not exceed time limits
☐AirspeedADJUST toward single-engine best rate of climb
☐LandAS SOON AS PRACTICABLE

The FADEC automatically provides OEI power from the remaining engine; monitor the FLI for the limiting parameter.

Airbus H145 (BK117 D-2) · Dual-Engine Failure / Autorotation

☐Collective (flare and cushion)APPLY NEAR GROUND to arrest rate of descent
☐After touchdownCOLLECTIVE FULL DOWN, brakes as required

Rotor RPM control is the single most critical action — do not allow NR to decay.

Airbus H145 (BK117 D-2) · Tail Rotor (Fenestron) Drive or Control Failure

☐Yaw tendencyIDENTIFY (loss of pedal authority vs drive failure)
☐AirspeedINCREASE to use vertical fin for weathercock stability
☐CollectiveREDUCE smoothly to reduce torque/yaw demand
☐ApproachRUN-ON LANDING preferred over hover if pedal authority is reduced
☐Engines (if complete drive failure)SHUT DOWN per RFM before touchdown as required

The shrouded Fenestron reduces but does not eliminate loss-of-tail-rotor-effectiveness risk; always follow the RFM tail rotor malfunction procedure for the actual failure mode.

Flying it realistically

  • Use a collective, cyclic and pedal set (or a good force-feedback joystick) rather than a single joystick mapped to both pitch/roll and collective.
  • Practise hovering and autorotation in a dedicated helicopter add-on - simplified default helicopters rarely model rotor RPM (NR) management realistically.
  • Treat low NR as seriously as in the real aircraft: lower collective promptly if the add-on models rotor droop.
  • Match the add-on's engine and avionics fit (Arriel 2E / Helionix) to this checklist; older BK117/EC145 add-ons use different engines and a non-glass cockpit.

Sim use only. These cards are simplified summaries and must never replace real aircraft checklists. Add-on aircraft often differ from the real aircraft and from each other.

EDUCATIONAL USE ONLY. Content is summarised from manufacturer documentation for learning. It is not approved flight or maintenance data. Always use the current, aircraft-specific POH/AFM, FCOM, QRH, AMM and operator procedures.
